I was born in Hagen Germany in 1965. Always interested in extreme sports like Surfing, Windsurfing, Snowboarding, Skateboarding, Mountain Biking and the list goes on. Never been a real german soccer fan, which would be more typical for a boy from my area. I realised pretty early that one day I have to move on, out of my home town, to follow my dream, to live at places where I can have a life surrounded by people with similar interests.
In the 80’s and 90’s the voyage began, surf trips through Europe and the USA, extended stays on Maui for Windsurfing were just the beginning (photo slides era).
1993 after saving some money I decided to leave everything behind for a while, for my big trip around the globe. Many continents and countries were on the list and the end was open.
25 years later I am still on this quest, but in the mean time I made Western Australia my home and base camp for all future adventures.
Snowboard-, Kitesurf- and Skydive-Instructor, Adventure Tour Operator, a reflection for my thruthful outdoor passion. Especially the elements water and air seemed to be my main playground, which guided me further into the artistic world of photography, which being a big part of my life now.
32 years of skydiving with over 17000 jumps on my belt, thats where my photography career really started, as an aerial photographer at 14000 feet high up in the sky, to capture the moments on photo and video in the Big Open Blue.
This is where I learned more and more about the often specialist camera equipment and photographic techniques involved.
The love to be in the ocean, in, under or around waves made me become more and more an Ocean Photographer over the years. Photography work from especially Clark Little & Russel Ord inspired me to follow this passion for waves, water and beauty in photography.
These days for example Hawaii, Bahamas, Australia, Mauritius, California or Guadeloupe Island Mexico in the autumn to film White Sharks became my regular photography playgrounds every year to shoot for Surf-, Kitesurf, Stand Up Paddle Board, Travel magazines and companies. Plus to add more beautiful images for my own photography artwork.
People often say you have to find a niche in photography to be successful. Hmmm… that might be right in many cases and especially if you really want to be rich and famous, but I personally love to take photos of almost anything. I am passioned about the challenge to capture something and make it look beautiful, awesome, different, special and interesting. I like to capture nature and with modern paintbrushes to bring out the highlights of my images. Basically very similar like painting a beautiful canvas with oil colors in the traditional way. It is my passion and a good try to live my dreams.
Walking through nature to see the world through my camera makes me to slow down and appreciate more the little things in life we often oversee.
It doesn’t matter where you are or what kind of weather or light you have,
there is no bad day for photography
and the Colour Blue
This is for me the place where I feel home and where I like to be ….
